valerio 32
Here in Italy the use of working terriers is very limited and I've only seen 2 breeds working:a large number of jagdterrier and a small number of russells,I've been said that someone is using patterdales but I've not seen any.So I'm allways interested in other breeds,I've seen that someone here is using Borders and I hope to get some information on them expecially on their Hunting stile, some pics will be great.hope someone can help me. Kane 2
I believe there is more than one person on this site that digs to Borders on a regular basis.I will try and stick a couple of pics up later. The working Borders I have seen work generaly are quite game and like to get to grips with the quarry, with Borders you realy do have to make sure they come from decent honest working lines, as I think the Border terrier suffers more from the whims of show people and money makers than other working types at the moment.A lot of people criticise the Border as a working type but if you can find those elusive working lines you will be in for a lot of fun. valerio 32
You are right Kane I've done a serch today on the web looking for border terriers and sealyhams and I was shocked from what I've seen  .What the hell are this breeders doing to hunting breeds sad to say but I think the damage as yet been done forr most terrier breeds,I rate myself fortunate having found a line of working russells keep photos coming :friends: Quote Link to post
shaun v 3
working borders are like trying to find rockie horse shit, in todays paper there is over 12 litters advertised saying work or pet, its a money thing for these people selling them for £300 a pup Quote Link to post

Kane 2
Have to dissagree with Borderboy a working Border should enter as easily and at the same age as any other breed of worker.Slowness to mature is IMHO just an excuse for 2nd rate terriers. Quote Link to post
Kane 2
A young Border dog who entered easily and at quite a tender age, tragicaly killed on the road. Quote Link to post

Kane 2
In my kennels at the moment I only have 2 terrriers one patterdale I would say is reasonable and an 8 month old Border dog I should also be picking up a Border dog pup in a few weeks time. The Border terrier essentialy a working terrier. I like them(from the right lines) I find them easy and quiet in kennels they dont attract to much unwanted attention and I have found them to be good finders and stayers they are also game enough to only need one hole dug to them.Of the Borders I have seen work regularly it has been uncommon to dig to a live fox. Perhaps I should be a little more patient :11: Quote Link to post
