Chocolatte patterdales

Recommended Posts

if your mating blacks/choc/reds/fawns together and getting a lots of pied pups there mixed color, all dogs that have white pattern even just a small star might carry the genes for pied, a black over a white producing white the black must be carrying white, as little as a 1/8, five gens of no pied color and your breeding self colors, black- add in dilution gene choc all the way back to cream

all good terriers should be a brown colour sometimes with a pink/red head

I have never seen a white patterdale and would not wont to because it will be crosed with jt terrier

these were bred black to black for many years ..Why would it have to be crossed with a russell??Seen many first crosses and they should if both parents are (pure) in the sense not already crossed come black or red years ago thats the colours they produced..Nowadays if you put a pat to a russell you often get russell coloured pups..So it stands to reason both parents were of x bred stock

Spot on Donny, black is and always should be the dominant colour, if you cross black over white you should get all black.

Why is everybody always assuming Russel in it if a Pat shows white spots? Lots of people use or used Bullblood in their lines.......

I never said anything about russells and IMO bull blood would be just as bad. My patts show white chests and white feet and i have pedigrees going back years before i was about and theres no bull or russell in any of it, the dogs picture that sparked all these comments IMO wasn't a patt at all but (no offence) was just a mongrel bred terrier.
