AT44W-10.gif

Well it is that time of year that threatens the smoke alarm with overload, yes Mole is racking up another year on the planet. So my wife asked me if I would like a pcp as the Stingray lets go with a twang! What else would this dyed in the wool Edgar Brothers fan like? An AT44W10 of course.

First things first, appearances, bran flakes to my humble eyes, very bran flakes (tasty, tasty, very very tasty), the wooden stock is nice to hold, there is an adjustable butt that can be moved to cope with different angles. The magazines are very smooth now (early ones had a problem with rough castings). There is a pressure gauge is on the front of the bottle so you can tell at a glance what your pressure is.

The trigger is metal, but given a blingy gold coating (pimp my trigger). The trigger is a nice two stage, first pull light, able to hold on second, before twink, the pellet flies! Recoil? What's that?

Magazine system, so sweet, move front bolt forward, pull cocking lever back, magazine can then be removed. Pellets are loaded by simply pushing them from the side with the raised centre. The magazines can hold long pellets, but they must be waisted as they are held in by an O ring round the outside. Simple to reload, then pull the back the cocking lever, slot magazine in, close cocking lever and move front bolt back towards you.

The gun is cocked by means of a side lever at the rear of the barrel/chamber assembly, the magazine is self indexing and has an anti-double loading system. When you have loaded the safety catch at the rear of the barrel moves out, to arm fire push this back in. Simple, but very addictive, you can fire 10 shots in very rapid succession if you get trigger happy! The barrel is a floating Walther!

In short, she is light and easy to handle, accurate, at the moment in a variable strong cross wind, I got a 50p grouping, please remember only 40 shots have gone through the barrel so until it is leaded my grouping will be a bit on the large size. I have a Whisper silencer on it, the loudest noise is the twink of the mechanism, however if you stand about 6 feet away you cannot hear that! The loudest noise was the pellet hitting the target board!

Photos of Tarzan will go up (Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan written by Edgar Rice Burroughs) when I remember to take the camera!

The shop I bought mine from had one left in .22, the .177s just do not seem to be available! They have got the QC right on the batch that made mine though! I could just fire time after time after time, no jamming, sticking or skipping, very nice movement on the magazine, sensible design (does not fling the magazine 2 feet away from the gun when the restraints are released) and a peach to shoot with. Looking forward to getting it properly zeroed and on the permission!

Altering signature because the wife has upgraded her arsenal to include a pcp as well! Will publish a review on that when I eventually prise it out of her fingers.
