gonetoearth 5,144
see the great yorkshire show is back on with the emphasis on WORKING terriers.well done to AH AND BW hope all your hard work pays off THEY invited me to the meeting last year i could not attend, but sent many emails regarding the showing of docked terriers there advice was not to show docked terriers on the basis of the interpretation of the law , i went into detail about showing working terrier with docked tail as the law states that only terrier that are going to be worked can be docked showing them and them only conforms to the act , many emails were exchanged then i got an invitation but other commitments made it impossible the docking ban can work in favour or the working terrier community although i don't know under what circumstances the GYS is running there terrier show waiting on a reply

Barrie 1,325
well done.i think its a brave decision to take this on,but know you will do it justice and as always BW fighting behind the scenes for all terrier folk.i take my hat off to the three of you and do believe you will be well supported...just cant quite picture you three in bowler hats Thank you for those kind words Terrier2, hopefully my work is pretty much done on this one, so I shall be absolved from bowler status. But I may just pop along with my camera to take a pic of AH and SP in theirs I agree with you, it is a brave decision for them to take this on and like you I take my hat off to them both. I know from my own involvement to date that throughout all our discussions there has been a very strong desire not just from our side, but even more so from the GYS Committee to see a greater emphasis placed on the WORKING side of the GYS Working Terrier Show and I know AH & SP will do their utmost to make sure that happens. For the benefit of the knockers and detractors.... we all know the GYS came in for a lot of stick during last year and from many quarters. But unfortunately as is often the case on these forums the real villains of the piece were completely overlooked. It was the previous LABOUR GOVERMENT who burdened us all with this and so much more ridiculous and uneccessary legislation, and it was show organisers who were left holding the dirty end of the stick. It's a fact that from the gentleman at the very top (and I do mean gentleman ) right through to the young lady on reception, the level of cooperation and support from the GYS this year could not have been better. Personally I'm not one who shows terriers, but I do appreciate all that the GYS are doing to maintain the public profile of the working terrier and terrierwork. They do, in my opinion, deserve our full support. Y.I.S. - Barrie Edited February 20, 2011 by Barrie
