Guest Macnas
[http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/bl-grizzlybear5.htm This email tale, circulating constantly in one form or another since November 2001, seems to grow taller year by year. Ironically, the first two snapshots — the ones showing the hunter posing next to the carcass of an incredibly large bear — are authentic. We know where and when they were taken, and by whom. The origin of the third photo purporting to show the remains of the behemoth's last victim is unknown. It was attached to the already-circulating email by an anonymous prankster in late 2002. In real life, the big grizzly measured 10' 6" from nose to tail and weighed in at an estimated 1,000 to 1,200 pounds — unusually large for the vicinity, says the USDA Forest Service, but not quite a world record, nor even an Alaskan record. It was killed on October 14, 2001 by [bANNED TEXT].S. Air Force Airman Theodore Winnen on Hinchinbrook Island, Prince William Sound. The photos were taken by his hunting partner, Staff Sgt. James Urban. Both were stationed at Eielson Air Force Base near Fairbanks at the time. Though the bear was within 10 yards of the hunters' position and moving towards them when he fired the first shot, Winnen says, it did not charge them, contrary to what the email claims. "I don't know if the wind was in our favor or what," he told the Anchorage Daily News. "We were dressed in camouflage. He might not have seen us." Winnen's weapon was a 338-caliber Winchester Magnum, not a 7mm semi-automatic as alleged. The first bullet pierced the bear's brain but left it standing; five more in the chest finally brought it down. Was the bear a man-eater, as claimed in the email? No, says the Forest Service, there is no evidence of that. When asked by the Anchorage Daily News to comment on the horrific image of what appears to be a partially-eaten human victim, spokesman Ray Massey admitted he hadn't even looked at it. "I didn't want to see a photo of the body," he said. "I know it's bogus."] Knew I'd seen it before.
Guest Ditch_Shitter
Excellent observation there, BM Without going back to scrutinise that vile picture again, I do believe ye perfectly correct. As I remember it, the left thigh's just hanging in tatters? There goes the femoral artery. Death within a minute or two? Indeed the Right leg ....? Isn't that just about burrowed into the pelvis? Pretty conclusively then; The guy would indeed have been stone dead time anyone found him. Fair comment. So, that aside? What about that damage? It's almost certainly got to be animal inflicted. I can't see a train managing those wounds. But how come his bits are still there? With all the rest of that work, I wouldn't have thought his block and tackle would have been ignored. Or Do larger carnivours avoid that portion of the meal? Probably one of the most 'interesting' shots on the net. And it's notable that none of these myth quoshing sites have ever tackled That shot and come up with an even reasonably irrefutable explanation
Ossie 11
well, ordinarily i'd put a shot like that down to a clever photshop job - but grass is a bugger to 'shop... the position of the leg is bugging me too - it's just too upright. with that degree of damage, surely it would flop over in one direction or t'other... and if he was fighting something off, the arms would be pretty stated too. most perplexing. just did a bit of googling for some info, but i found this instead... woman attacked with chihuahua and this site is just class! Oh, Ossie, I can't thank you enough for reminding, nay leading me Back to " Igor: Who is Not insane. " Believe it or not, in the last couple of years before I got out of england this guy was one of my 'Regulars'! Never a night went past without I'd drop in there to see what 'That mad c**t' had come up with next! Used to gut me when he fell behind for a bit. Now I see I have about a years worth to catch up on?! Excellent! I shall well enjoy reading every word of the stuff that pathological loon manages to dredge up from around the world Guy's got a hell of a problem, obviously. But at least he can't hear - and I suspect he rather joins in with - us pissing ourselves laughing at the greater part of what he so religiously presents there! Some quality 'quiet time' hours coming up for me now then? Thanks again! I lost that link with my last computer. Great to have it back again
gelert 1
well my theory is that to do that damage it would be a carnivore and therefore would not eat his.. ...meat and 2 VEG..........haha
