#1poacher 8
hey hello and what a delight story for yas a offered a couple of lads nites out lamping because they have no other way of getting out except to walk.had a crack with one of them he said yea no probs so mentioned about petrol and the fact am only taking 1 dog at a time so to give the 3 of us equall opportunity to run the dogs single handed.went and saw other lad he said it would be a waste of time taking 1 of the dogs coz it doesnt run down the beam and it wont come back, saying that the dog is only 16mnth,then he said nah a dont want to go coz you wont catch the big stuff so whats the point.so a said so there was no point in taking your dog out by itself in my car when a should have just taken my own dog and left him to walk and chase nowt, now hes shooting what yas think Quote Link to post

fieldsman 51
Saying its only 16 months old as an excuse for bad behaviour I somtimes wonder what kind of people own dogs it should be under control of some degree before you even leave the house with it all of mine sit stay stand heel and recall before there six months old and definitely before they go out chasing round in the dark by a year old it should be pretty steady. I can understand youthfull keenes but once its run a few and caught after a couple of runs they should be settling down watching and listening and walking to heel when the lamp is of.Any thing else can be a danger and a liability. I sold a pup just recently to a lad that had been after one of my line for some time the pup was seven months old when she went I was going to keep her but he seemed so keen I let him have her on taking her I told him she was trained to the lamp but had never run a rabbit and to leave her for IMO 4 months before entering her .A couple of months later I spoke to him to see how she was shaping up .He said he had been out that weekend with some mates . Dog men for years apparently none of them beleived him the dog was only just under ten months old .I cannot understand why any one would make life any more difficult than necessary it must be a nightmare taking untrained dog lamping he has now talked his way into becoming a lamping partner less stress apparently.
