Here's a plan i have , lamp dimmer , cheep if it works!

Recommended Posts

Right fooking about in the work shop the day, looking for something and as you do you find the thing you were looking for last year,

anyway what i found (because i'm a hoarding twat and it kills me to bin stuff) is a switch off an old 12v cordless drill you know the sort where you press in and it gives you variable speed,

so what i was thinking has any one tried to fit this it to a lamp handle or even just tried it on a 12v bulb???

I think it would work as the drill's do draw a good few amps and it would fit just nice in the strikers handle!!!

I have found a dimmer that works but it makes a screeching sound if you turn it down to much! its a pwm led dimer but theirs no way it will fit in side the lamp.....

I have phoned deben up about buying the built in dimmer as a spare part but the wife on phone said they don't do it! and tried to sell me the inline one! And i told her how it was a pain in the arse for dog lads , she asked how so as you know , dog in one hand lamp in the other how can i dim the lamp ( yes i could tape the inline to the handle but it not the way i want it) Then i tried to sweet talk her to selling me one but no joy their!

Thats the one i've use but as you say it whines on, plus i spot game then walk up to it holding lamp n dog in one hand then turn dimmer back up then whip the filter off, where is i could just press harder on the switch, or if deben sold the dimmer as a spare i could flick it round with the thumb!

why not ask on here for old dimmer switches,as the lamps dont last nd lads just buy new ones, wires go,reflectors go,some just buy new bud,

This is the dimmer set up I use as I think that the filters are too much hassle on the lightforce ....it is a speed control for a pigeon magnet you can pick up for a few quid.

i might have one of them kicking about , i will have a look later
