swamp thang 16
You might test fire a 16-guage or 20-guage shotgun to see how the recoil feels, and if they still feel a bit harsh, the smallest bore of all, a 410 might be the right scattergun for you. Mind you, the stopping power of those guns will of course diminish as you go from the 12 to the 16 to the 20, and 410. Edited January 30, 2011 by swamp thang Quote Link to post
halamrose 24
'Best' depends on what you want it for. Lets say you will start shooting clays to get the hang of it. A heavey gun will recoil less and a cartridge with a light 23g load likewise. Semiautomatics tend to recoil less I'm told. Decent gun fit and the right 'mount', how you hold the gun, also contirbute the the recoil you feel. Take a lesson or two with the coaches gun, he will have a selection and help you choose one that fits well and sort your mount. Once you have some practice your find you are comfortable with full loads. Enjoy, Halam Quote Link to post
kev1986 0
it all depends on cartridge load really mate obv the heavier cart the more kick , also like said before what are the main uses i.e clays mainly 24-28g loads with number 7 1/2 hardly no kick at all any many women use a 12 loaded with these no probs , but if say on pigeons or game say 32g no 5 or 6 a bit more kick and may feel it after a good day on pigeons so therefore a 20 bore would be better but from what i have seen 20 bore carts seem to be a little more expensive atb kev Quote Link to post
