If your dog is of a good age, and is struggling with it's mobility, you can self-diagnose arthritis. A disease which comes to both canine and human races with age, I speak from experience :(

My little terrier/lurcher x has it in one of her front shoulders, or possibly her elbow, stemming from an old injury. Its only developed fairly recently, i,m going to get her x rayed when she is in for another op in the next few weeks.Meantime, i,ve had her on glucosamine supplement, which is supposed to be good for it, and a gentle painkiller, on cold damp days, if she is limping paticularly badly after a good walk, and the heat lamp is on permanently in her kennel. So there is quite a bit you can do, before having to go down the permanent drugs route, though, thats whats going to happen eventually.Cold and damp, are the enemy of this condition.

Yep X-Rays pick it up. Our oldest Rottie has it in a shoulder, didn't need an op. and we control it with anti-inflammatory drugs.

We had them from the vets initially :icon_eek: . But I worked out the dosage once I realised that I took the same tablets, it's not rocket science. that and heat are the best thing as there is no cure, it'll just move about.

Once you find out the doage for a particular dog, i.e size, weight of animal and the strength/dosage, any chemist sells Ibuprofen................Al
