Jettyboy 174
Was out lamping last night but had to come home early due to a broken front toe and a dislocated back toe!! (it doesn't seem to be bothering him). Does anyone have any advice on how long to lay him up for, or any treatment tips? Cheers Quote Link to post

Meerihunter 7
The Track vet I used to take my dogs to advised that a dislocated toe will seldom heal well enough to take the strains exerted when a "running dog" runs and turns at speed, I guess a lot depends on the level of ligament damage done. One of my SalukiX's dislocated his toe and in the end it had to come off. Only see a vet that is knowledgeable about running dogs injuries, pet vets IMO often do more damage than good. Hope all goes well for your dog. Quote Link to post

Cheers My coursing lurcher dislocated a toe on his first meet on the fens ,took him to a track vet ,he suggested taking the toe off but as the dog was still young tried blistering the toe ,and resting him ,this worked and he has caught a lot ofhares and won quite a few trophys for coursing ,I cant emphasise enough ,GO TO A TRACK VET<dont take a running gog to a general practise vet for anything except run of the mill injuries and jabs, all the best,INAN.
