bp1984 11
Hi folks im still on the never ending search for the perfect new rifle, I just visited Drapers air gun in nottingham and he tryed his hardest to make me buy a brand new benjamin trail gas ram, It comes with a sling and a half decent scope (cant remember name on scope) all for £300. Just wondered if any one has owned or even used one of these rifles and what you think of it? Ive found a pic (below) its exactly same as that if your wondering and its in .22 cheers brent. andyfr1968 772
Hi, mate. They're Chineese built lemons tarted up for fat Yanks, cheap enough but not screwed together very well. If you like the idea of a gas-ram then go for the HW90, it's the best on the market by a mile and there's a few kicking around used, a mate of mine got one a few months ago with a decent scope and a mod for £150 from a lad on here. Cheers. Edit to say... I use a 90 myself and it's as good now as when I first got it 12 years ago. Edited January 15, 2011 by andyfr1968 Quote Link to post
matt_hooks 188
Andy, I'd disagree that the 90 is the best gas ram. If you can find one (and they're as rare as rocking horse poo) the original Theoben Scirocco is an amazing bit of kit. Quote Link to post

Fair comment, Matt, I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this The Sirroco was a lovely gun in it's day but they did kick a bit. Beautifully made though... Very well screwed together.. You'll never read a bad review on any gun in a mag, Aaron, they're all too frightened about p*ssing off the manufactures or importers. If they do, they'll loose advertising revenue and they can't afford to do that with such a small market... Take all the 'reviews' you read in the mags with a very big pinch of salt The airgun press is just like all the other press, it's paid for and if they p*ss off the pay masters someone will pull the plug. Fair comment, Aaron but do you think the press will have recieved a random gun to test, or maybe one that's been specially selected and set up for test?? The gun trade is as bent as any other and a couple of quid here and there does change hands..... Honestly, it's only forums like these that folks will (hopefully....) get an honest opinion from folks who've really used the stuff or at least knows someone who has. Edit to say....... I'm not just pointing this remark at Benjamin....... Edited January 15, 2011 by andyfr1968 Quote Link to post
