DEKAW 85
Here is the problem. When my terrier is working the hedge rows, I send my Lurcher onto the opposite side to me, but as soon as i start walking he comes back onto my side This is starting to get a little frustrating as the terrier flushed out half a dozen bunnies this morning which he could of caught with ease if he was on the opposite side to me. He is 15 months old and is still young and learning. But he has picked everthing else up pretty quick, jumping, retrieving etc.... Any advice would be greatly appriciated Quote Link to post
Vermin Dropper 2
teach him to stay, then just work small areas of cover at a time, as you move up take him further along and stay again, when he starts picking up the bolters from the oposite side he'll soon get the idea that it's the best place to be, Quote Link to post
Guest oldskool
i got mine trained to sit and then stay but it all went to pot as soon as i went out of sight... when i got him to sit and stay well enough, i started to use the corner of the house... it took ages but he got into the swing of it after a while. i think its better to train a dog at home rather than take him to a field, too many distractions IMO... teachin a dog to stay is never a fun thing to do IMO... maybe i'm doin it wrong??
