Guest MOLLY
Probably the same as i do on my permission with lamp shy, thin on the ground, educated rabbits.... This was a good night the norm is 0-2. Too easy , the rabbits obviously just sit with white flags waving for the dogs to pick up A night like that the dogs are running and working hard for about 5hrs, so thats about 9 rabbits per hour, with 3 dogs, averages about 3 rabbits per dog per hour....still think its too easy? We work damn hard for our rabbits MOLL. Quote Link to post
Meerihunter 7
And then you have to carry them back to the motor! I like to let the dogs hunt up on moonlit nights leaving the lamp behind at home. Stealth mode lol. Edited January 26, 2007 by Meerihunter Quote Link to post
Irish Lurcher 1,013
The moon has no effect on my hunting, fox will come to the call just as quick. I thinks it a oul wifes tail about the full moon. I was out some weeks ago and the we had a full moon, great night shooting. Quote Link to post
Guest game'dogs
been running dogs since i was a kid and the moon has never stopt me , all this full moon shit is taking it a bit far i think that the reason poachers dont like a full moon is cos they can be seen , infact i like to run the dogs on a moon lite night i find that if the quary goes out of the beam then the moon does the lamping for me , it is mild windles nites that seem to mess it up for me , when i go out and its a bit windy i know that i can take advantege of the wind and since i know the ground i can use the wind just like a wee foxy , i love moon light nites as i know that every one of these (learn it from a book hunters ) wont be out pushing all the game into cover ! dont go out on a moon lite night folks you wont see enything Quote Link to post
juckler123 707
Nothing wrong with running the dogs without a lamp on a full moon and as your not lamping you can go on them bits what you would never get away with lamping anyway ive had double figures regularly on the estates where i live one old boy i know has worked his dogs at night for over thirty years as i know and wouldnt thank you to go with a lamp and he gets plenty. dogs can see well in the dark and with a good moon its just the same as being out at daybreak Quote Link to post
