Help with stock

Recommended Posts

Right guys, i recently bought a 2nd hand bsa super10, the stock was a bit worn so i decided to re stain it, stupidly i diddnt test the stain first, sanded the gun, then added the first coat of stain, i hate the colour, but decided to give it a chance and gave it a second coat to see if the colour darkened, it diddnt!! thought id put the clear varnish on to see if that made any difference, it diddnt!! What do i do to get the stock back to plain wood?? can i use turps to take the varnish off?? and then if i sand will i get the stain off?? HELP PLEASE!!

nitromos paint/varnish stripper until all the varnish is gone and then wash it with hot soapy water. leave it to dry 24 hours then lightly sand away the old stain. then your back to square one, and ready for your different colour stain.
