ok lads ive set up a desk top for a mate,however im getting no sound from speakers.he wants to put it into a shop but i said id ask first see if anyone knows if it could be something simple.plug the speakers in and when u connect u hear a slight crackle as the plugs are put in.but no sound from them at all.could the sound card be f****d.is there a test u can run to see if it is?

Have you tried going into the sound & audio device settings in control panel?

 

Click on hardware, and you should be able to see if everything's working OK. There is a more advanced option somewhere I think it's called hardware manager.. :hmm: I'll have a look. :thumbs:

Try this..

 

Start, then left click on 'my computer' and choose properties. Choose 'hardware', then double click on 'sound, video & game controllers.' You can then click on the default audio device and check that it's working properly. It might help to update the drivers for it. :thumbs:

well it is my old tower and hasnt been updated or used for ages.gonna sound stupid here malt but how do you update drivers lol ill try what u said though
