Water Badger 26
My 12month old beddy whip is struggling to hold on to the rabbits he is catching on the lamp! I am worried this may lead to him being hard mouthed? He had 4 tonight out of 6 runs and 2 kicked out i was gutted for him he is trying so hard Quote Link to post

Trigger 26
some dogs do it from time to time, when he catchs his rabbit it might pay to hold the lamp on him for a few secounds to make sure hes got a good hold of the rabbit, if he hasnt and he drops it you have the light on it allready and he should catch it again. atb trigger Quote Link to post

arcticgun 4,548
had the same problem with my beddy grey, like said above keep the lamp on a fraction longer, soon sort itself out, practise makes perfect Quote Link to post

romany52 313
It's a common thing in a young dog just starting, in fact I would say it's desirable in a rabbiting dog for the first few outings , it usually means they won't be hard mouthed, he will soon learn to keep hold. Tyla 3,179
Its just inexperience, the more prsctrice he has the better he will get. From what i saw the other night he just needs a little more confidence in himself to use his mouth, nothing wrong with the way he runs them though Quote Link to post
