skycat 6,174
Straw: pros = warm, dries off wet dogs well, dogs can make nest in it and keep warm in cold weather Straw: cons = can be dusty, may carry mites (spray with Aclaim 2000 or Indorex when first putting in kennel to kill mites. Better still: sprinkle with Diamotaceous Earth: natural powder which kills mites without any chemicals: brilliant stuff) Shavings: pros: none IMO Shavings: cons: not warm, stick to wet dogs badly, doesn't have the same insulating properties as straw: why so many people reccomend them I dont'know: just my opinion.
