Early morning out....

Recommended Posts

Well after setting teh clock fro stupid o' clock (3-30am) i got into the jeep and collected my mate at 4

heading of to the fallow grounds We got there slightly after 6-20am Got the gear sorted out and of up the fields under teh full moon,

seeing checking the wind it was in our favour, as the mist rose slightly above the ground it was an eary sight,

Spotting about 20 fallow in the field next the wood, they must of scented us as the wind changed, and a few walked into the wood,

As the rain started to fall We came walking up to a gate only to see 2 doe's and a pricket, 17 yards of us, we couldn't move and as i got ready to unshoulder the gun they obviously got skittish and away they went... As the rain fell we took refudge under a tree in the middle of the field listening the the calls of the rutting fallow in the background, and chatting about the weather etc, all of a sudden this little fallow came bounding right up beside us, obviously been rutting as it was rather worse for wear and sporting on antler....!!!!!! it was only about 3 yards of us as it trotted past....!!!!!! i got down and as i went to take the shot it changed direction straight into the path of the cattle

NO shot...

So off for a little drive into another bit of permission, and after a short walk to the head of the wood, my mate spied a little pricket through the bino's

i got down ranged it at 204 yards and pulled the trigger, it stiffened with a neck shot and fell over on the spot.... :)

So it was a good morning... :) although i was sodden wet.... lol

ATB.
