dogs and ferrets

hi all,i have a 12 month old whippet which iv had for 6 months now and shes turning out to be a smashing little bitch, but have had her out ferreting 7-8 times now and all she wants to do is get her teeth into anything includeing the ferrets, just wondering has anybody had this problem and do they have any advic on how to correct this or will she always have this problem?

1st get the dog used to the ferrets,2nd get the dog used to the ferrets,3rd when the dog is used to the ferrets take them out together.

she sees them all day running around the court it just when i have here in the feild her very strong prey drive takes over.

I started breaking my bullx to ferrets at about 12 month she saw them once every week when i was handeling them and i chastised her for going for them was a bit worried when 1st took her ferriting but she mouthed the ferret and i gave her a clip round the ear shes ok with them now .

I had this happing mate I just put a bowl of milk down and let them drink it together did this for a few weeks and the dog was fine after that.

 

this should of been done as early as possible but you didnt get the dog till it was 6 mths old should of had a go then all you can do is handle the ferret as much as possible around the house so the dog can see its a friend then let it have milk in a bowl then give the dog a drink out of the same bowl then see if you can get them sharing together any sign of the dog going for it just give a sharp no just perserverance im afraid.
