The Day Of The Super-rat

Recommended Posts

Some of you may have seen a picture in a National Newspaper recently of a giant rat caught in Eastern Region. Well this was actually a small Koypu from South America let loose with some others by Animals Rights campaigners. The Koypu is a member of the rat family and breed at the same rate. This can mean a trying time for Farmers if these animals take a hold. Like the European rat they are voracious eaters and will reek havoc on grain and vegetable stores if they are allowed to breed freely. This has happened before with the Mink which when 'Freed' by Animal Rights caused chaos to the region and devestation to small wildlife like the water vole and fish. There is now an established hunting culture dedicated to hunt the mink. Let us hope this is not allowed to happen with the Super-rat.
