hilly 6
Hi all I,m going to try and get my first fac soon and was wondering if there is any tips on when I have the inspector around. I have been to the land owner that lets me shoot a Logun s16 on fly a bop and ferret on and asked him about getting a .22 rimfire with a sound moderator on to get some more Rabbits and hes all for it and has said he will also be a ref for me. The land must be ok for a rimfire as he has one himself. I,m looking at gun safes and a separate safe for ammo. I have been on the land for about two years with the air gun so would I need to have more experience with a gun or would that be ok (I have been out at least 2-3 nights a week with the gun). I must admit it seems a bit doubting at first and makes me seem if its worth trying for. Any help would be great, Mark. Quote Link to post
matt_hooks 188
Absolutely it's worth trying for. As long as you don't have a history of violent crime or a history of clinical depression you should be fine! If you've been shooting loads with the air rifle and can get a letter from the land owner saying that you've been safe, and he's an FAC holder in good standing, then that should be plenty of proof for them. Get those form filled in and sent off! Edited to add, how old are you fella? Edited September 30, 2010 by matt_hooks Quote Link to post

I,m 38 years young and the land owner has said if or when they want to contact him then he will gladly have a chat with them. Quote Link to post
matt_hooks 188
Ah you'll be fine then! I'd put in for the coterminous certificate, it's only £10 extra, and having the SGC is another string to the bow, and makes for some good pest control and hunting! Quote Link to post

Was thinking about it but I didnt want to push it and was thinking if I got the fac then apply for SGC next year. Quote Link to post
matt_hooks 188
SGC, if you have reason to hold, and there is no reason not to issue it, then they have to issue it. I'd go for the coterminous, it saves you a load of cash! Quote Link to post
RAPID7LIAM 7
i'd go for it asap mate, i waited months before i even got the forms and when i got my fac for rimfire and fac air i wish i had done it sooner as hunting trips have never been the same since. I really look forward to getting out with the rimmy on a weekend now and have had some good bags too. ATB, Liam.. As for coterminous i did'nt bother with the shot gun as you only save a tenner, they are both £50 each or £90 if you get both(thats in the north east, might be differant else where), good luck pal.. Nope, co-termionous is £60. That's set by the government and is the same everywhere. FAC is £50 SGC is £50 Co-terminous is £60 So you save £40. Quote Link to post

hilly 6
OK then with all the good replies how can I not go for it? If I put in for a SGL as well as a FAC and fill out both forms do I need then 4 refs? And do I just fill out both forms send them off together with the £60? Would they still give me both if I told them the FAC is for a rimfire (Rabbit) and the SGL is just for Pigeon? Sorry for so many questions, Mark. Quote Link to post
hw100sniper 2
Just fill out the 2 forms ,get 2 refs (get 1 to sign your sgc as well) get 8 pics get them signed as necesarry throw a £60 cheque in the envelope and wait for the phone call .It really isnt that bad an experience as long as everything is good your end i.e. convictions and land and you not sounding a nutter at your interview . P.s. the rimmy and the shotty can both be for rabbit Quote Link to post
