manchester girl 0
How do you cope with your bitches when they come into season? We have to take our girl with us when we go to the field and she then goes off hunting and only usually reappears when we leave so not always sure where she is and if she's alone. Is there a 'pill' for dogs these days?

rikjd 8
Theres a mis mate shot but it has side effects including possible infertility later down the line, and you can only use it once per season so if theres an accident after the shots then your up the creek without a paddle. Annmarie09 5
Spey her or keep her on the lead cheers chris Yep. My bitch isn't speyed either, and when she's in season she only goes to the stables where she's never out of my sight. The jab to prevent her coming into season is not 100% and the greyhound rescues often have litters of pups handed in due to the failure of this jab.
skycat 6,174
Keep bitch on lead when in season: at all times. OR...get her spayed. OR...get her jabbed up: the most commonly used for running dogs is Durateston: a once fornightly injection of 1/2 ml.

The jabs when used correctly is 100%..its not an anabolic steroid anymore so does not have any long term side effects..the jab has to be given 12 weeks after the first time a bitch has be given it and every 6 mths then after If they can't produce a 100% guarantee for humans, how did they manage it for dogs?
