COMPO 54
Here's my longnet all wrapped up, you can see the end pin's they are 12inch tent pegs that have had the ends bent round the white cord is just to help hold the pins together when they are in the bag, as you can see the net has been fed onto one pin and the other pin and lines have been passed round the net until it is held on the original pin Edited December 19, 2006 by COMPO Quote Link to post
beagles 0
that all you need a 12inch tent peg Quote Link to post
COMPO 54
that all you need a 12inch tent peg well they work on my 100yard 6oz net! I did have to make the hoops by bending the end round, and i used sand paper to take off any rough edge's, but they took me 5 minutes to adapt, and only cost a few quid from a camping shop, you will have to go to a camping specialist and i think they are what are used on marque's Quote Link to post
Rabbithunter 456
length of 3/8" aluminium rod 2", 3" or 5" bit of metal pipe (dont need much, about five inches will do) bench vise mole grips araldite insulation tape bit of heat.... Take the rod, about 9" up it (this is the shaft so make longer or shorter if you wish) put it in the vic and put a bend in it. Open up the vise and put your bit of pipe in, now with the mole grips clamp the rod, where you bent it, to the pipe. use the heat source to heat up the ally and bend round the pipe, now and then you will have to move the mole grips round. once you have a full circle, cut the remaining end at the angle where it meets the shaft, then use your araldit to fill in the gap, tape up all round the hoop and a few inches down the shaft.... Best picture i could find, taken from pigeon watch Quote Link to post

Guest Bigbob
I just prefer the end rings a bit bigger so they dont slip through the meshes of the net Quote Link to post
Rabbithunter 456
same here bob, especially on the longer nets. with a 50 yard net i would use a 2 or 3 inch ring as the "bundle" of net doesn't get that big. so i can keep my thumb through the ring, and grip the net. Quote Link to post
