david2363 42
I popped into my local post office this morning to post a parcel. I had my 6 month Bedlington pup on a lead and couldnt find anywhere outside to tether him, so thinking - I'll only be a few minutes - I took him in with me. I hadn't even reached the counter when the officious old boot (postmistress) challenged me with " you cant bring that dog in here" I replied - " whats the harm? I'll only be a few minutes" She retorted - " It states clearly on the door - N O D O G S " She then added - " the only dogs permited in here are GUIDE DOGS" I quipped - "but this is a GUIDE DOG" "Very funny " she squawked " guide dogs are always LABRADORS" Quick as a flash, I looked at her blankly, put my hand down and touched my pups head and said . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . " WHY, WHAT THE FIRK HAVE THEY GIVEN ME??? I've still got the parcel !!
COMPO 54
guide dogs are mostly labs but not all....there are some Retrievers and GSD's and a few crosses (i used to work with a lass who's husband was blind his dog was a GSD x. there are also disability and hearing assistance dogs, the hearing assistance dogs are often terriers and cross bred's, you should have said you are a puppy walker for hearing dogs for the deaf and that you are socialising the pup and teaching it about post offices, Trust me i have used that once it worked for me
