What material for nitting sheet mesh?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys!

First post so bear with me.

I have found the forum when i was googling, making nets from sheet mesh.

I know what i need for drawcord, the actual sheet mesh and the rings.

Question is, what do i use to tie the net off to the ring and how would i knit it on?

I appreciate that making nets in this way is not traditional, and possibly will not produce the best nets but i have some 12oz blue nylon nets made in this way and they are brill.

It seems a cheap and fast way to knock up lots of nets.

Can anyone help?

Thanks, Liam

You can buy nylon twine on a spool (Brinded Bridport Agouti)no problem .

If you can hand tie purse nets then tie the nylon to the net and tie off to the ring in the same way....easy peasy :D

Hi Longnetter,

Thanks for the reply.

I will be getting the stuff from bridport i think.

I am making them from sheet netting, its just a case of cutting the netting to size and tieing to the rings with the thin braided cord right?

Oh, and then adding the draw cord?

More or less mate yes........it's not braid you want but nylon twine sort of 8Z or 10Z will do, Pat of Bridport  will be at The Midland this coming weekend if you can get there it's worth having a chat with him....if not ,phone him leave a message and he'll get back to you .

The handful I made this way,I used split rings, like the ones on keyrings. Always a chance of snagging, but you could tape the split up. Never had any probs tho.

The rings aren't particularly expensive to be honest. Agouti and lots of others sell them.

Thanks for all the help longnetter, check your pm.
