tote 870
Sitting in the hoose the night at 8pm and it was blowing a hooley oot side. Time to get the lamp and battery oot, I decided to go local and do a few fields that only usually produce a handfull of runs as my back has been playing up and I could take the smaller lighter battery. Gets into the first field which is like clover/peas, spots a bunny, Blue sees it and is slipped after a couple of turns he gets it by the dyke. Off with the beam and I whistle him in, he seems to be taking an age so I start walking away and whistling. Next thing he appears without the rabbit, and as hard as I looked for it I couldn't find it anywhere. I'll not bore you with all the runs, we ended up catching 6. Not sure how many runs Blue had but it would've been about 10 -12. He had some good catches and also some misses due to being a bit too keen but he'll learn. Must say his retrieving was p!ss poor, saying that there was one rabbit that he caught which must've been near 200 yards away and he brought it back in to about 10 yards. There was a lot more rabbits there tonight than I've seen before but we never got the chance to lamp anymore as the battery ran flat but in hindsight Blue had probably done enough after all it was only his third time out with the beam. Pic showing the 5 rabbits, Mr fox will get a free meal in the clover field. Quote Link to post
