Rabbithunter 456
Where will you be fishing and what will you be expecting to catch? This should determine what size hook you need. My uncle used to use long lines in the sea and tried to make a living off of it, dont think he did though. Joe in the solway mate perhaps mackerel & flatty's Quote Link to post
whin 463
set the messengers every 10 yrds and anchor both ends size of hooks should be the size of amachrel feather 1 OR 2, I THINK, the snoods comeing of the main line make the 400 mmm ,use sqiud ot welks for bait or what you can dig localy youll catch if there any thing about or just get a gill net and set it for bass etc, make your long lines a hundred yards or fifty and a hook every 10 yrds Quote Link to post
Yokel Matt 918
Not got much experience in long lining but a hook every ten yrds seems a bit much. I've seen 2.5 ft snoods (couldn't say what size hook i'm afraid) spaced about 6ft apart with 'baited' tin-foil and sequins take mackerel. I know flatties like bright baits so this may work for them if trolled along the bottom. Quote Link to post
