net making materials

There seems to be a lot of good going round, claiming to be "spun nylon" "hemp" or "nylon braid" (draw cord)

"spun nylon" is spun polyester

"hemp" is flax

don't get me wrong, sspun polyester is good to work with, but you are paying more than what you should for it. and i've never really used hemp, so i dont know the difference between real hemp & flax.

Also nylon braid, im pretty sure people are paying for "polyester" braid.

theres nothing wrong with the alternatives, just you are paying for something that your not getting.

I would expect hemp to be tougher than flax and polyester whilst stronger than nylon, has less give ... a lot depends on what you want to use it for. There is a product which has the stretch of nylon combined with the strength of polyester -- if I remember what it's called I'll post it :icon_redface:

YOU will probably find that most of the hemp that is advertised is FLAX ...true hemp is getting more expensive... regarding polyester,,, well its finer than nylon,, less stretch than some nylons but it has a lesser breaking strain than a good quality nylon(a cheaper alternative to nylon)...
