Mink trap, non target species excluder dimensions

Hi folks,

 

Quick question. Live catch cage trap targeting mink. I know either two dowels or an upside down U of strong bull wire will exclude say cats which are the problem. How wide should I be making the gap between the dowels/wire to let mink in and exclude others. I read it here before but can't find it now.
