HEAT LAMP.

Right, been cooooooold here the last few nights, so went and got a infa red heat lamp for my whippet bitch Millie.

 

Pic below. Do you think its ok to hang it the way it is folks?

 

She seems happy, altough the lass never complained much before.

as a rough guide frank put your hand on the dogs back and if it is warmer than his body would normaly be then raise it, a pup of that age you only want to take the chill out of the air.

try and make sure theres an area not covered by the heat lamp then she can get to a cooler area if she wants to be cooler.

infra red,arnt they used for muscle puls and such.ive always used pig lamps they are red but not infra.dont know if it makes any difference to the dog.

got mine of ebay £22 plus the bulb

Mine was 30 Euro plus bulb from my local farm shop, so works out about the same.

 

mikee, the bulb is red and on the box it says infrared bulb, she is not complaining anyway.

Did not know they were used for that purpose though, must keep that in mind, cheers.

would a timer switch be of any benefit... you might save electric on the long run... i dont think its that expensive to fit because a mate has it for hens to keep them layin...
