MC Hunter 0
Hi guys thought id tell you about my newest permission. Went out last night on my permission about 400 acres of crop and barns etc, very new permission. The owner has cut the rape seed about 2 weeks ago and still has a lot of wheat around not cut yet as per weather not being very good over the last few weeks, while i was at work when he was cutting the rape there were at least a thousand pigeons, crows and seagul's following the disc's it was just madness as you can imagine i went out last night and it was dead there were about 20 over the whole place i think they were on other land across the way feeding as it's never like this, i spent 3 hours just stalking along side the hedge rows out of the corner of my eye i saw a pigeon must have been 70- yds away just pecking the floor for corn at the edge of the field, I shoot 22 air gun not FAC so had to be at the most 40 yds away so went on trying to keep as low as pos i new this would be my only chance of a bird tonight so was very quite i got within 40 yds of it and went in to prone no problems so far, I put the cross hairs on it i was just about to take the shot when a baby rabbit jumped in front of my scope I couldnt believe it, it was that close I could have grabbed it but it just sat next to me in taking my eye off the bird and the rabbit i looked up and the pigeon had gone but i never see it fly away so crept very slowly up to where it was but no sign damn rabbit, but hay it was so nice to see the baby rabbit so close can't wait for the wheat to be cut very soon and ill be out there same day hopefully. Untill then happy hunting and thanks for reading just thought id post something as im quite new to this forum Quote Link to post

IanB 0
Watch the pigeons and keep an eye on the fields there feeding on and the flightlines they use. Theres a lot on rape stubbles at the minute..best bet is on this, then set your hide and decoys up, if you haven't got one already I'd recommend a flapper to give you some movement, try here http://www.ukshootwa...16af15rancs4hl2 .. If he has more rape stubble about try putting some white plastic bags out on sticks to deter them off these and onto the fields your wanting to shoot... Quote Link to post
