Hi all was wandering if anyone had any tips or advise on gaining some off my own permission. I'm from west yorkshire and willing to travel a 75 mile radius, recently got some ferrets and am very keen but i have to go on my mates land and he works away alot but i get days of through the week and stuff as my job is more flexible. It would be great if i was to gain myself some permission as i said before any advice or tips much appreciated! :good:

HELLO YORKSHIRE LAD, THE BEST WAY TO GET YOUR OWN PERRMISSION IS JUST GO STRAIGHT TO THE LAND OWNERS AND ASK IF THEY WOULD MIND IF YOU DOING A BIT OF FERRETING, THATS HOW WE GOT ALLOUR PERRMISSION, A FEW SAID NO, BUT THE REST WERE OK , YOU DONT KNOW UNLESS YOU ASK. :):)

Ive made myself a load of cards thats a bit smaller than A5 just to advertise my free and humane pest control services to farmers, game keepers and landowners. On the card it basically says about myself, what i can control and have experience controling and the methods i use. It also says that i will happily give a demonstration of my ability and responsibilty and give any references needed.

I dont know if this is the best way about it, but as soon as i get a free saturday im goin to go around a few local farms and see if i can get sum shooting permission, have a word [bANNED TEXT] the farmer and just give him one of my cards. At least then even if he doesnt want to deal with me there and then, he can have a look at my card when ready and have a think about it.

Well thats my plan anyway, what do the rest of you think?

The original and best way to get any kind of hunting permission is to knock on doors mate. Once you have permission from one farmer it is easier to get permission because you can go to nearby by farms and say "I was just wondering if you had anyone controlling your rabbits, as I control farmer browns and would be happy to help you out". Or that kind of thing anyway.

Even if 10 people say no just keep trying, sometimes the most unlikely looking places will just about tear your arm off once you give them the offer of free pest control! ;)

Good luck!

I have tried different methods, originally I got business cards, I thought it was good idea but for me it didn't work. I knocked on dozens of doors with negative responces but at some point somebody does say yes :D My current permission came about from asking, then another couple of farms and a riding school. You could go beating and meet a few keepers and farmers..........

Every Year just before the Season starts i get some cards printed and spend a weekend going around the Farms handing them out. I get around 3-4 New Farms each Year using this method. Call and hand your cards out SMARTLY DRESSED and be POLITE. If you only get a bit to start with, word soon spreads you are TRUSTWORTHY and have done a GOOD JOB and more Land will follow ( Most Farmers Piss in the same Pot).

This is where i get my Cards from if anyone is interested.
