muddy210 34
Two jills have been handled everyday since birth and by me since 8 weeks old up until now they have been fine the odd nip here and there but nothing to much. over the last couple of days they take more pleasure in nipping than any thing else there not biting as such just the usual nipping thati would expect. i just cant understand why its started now after 5 weeks of lots of handling. nothing has changed with what i am doing. clean them in the morning feed them at night and handle them during these times and when ever else the oppurtunity arises at least an hour a day. not causing a problem but would be interesting to get your opinionson why they should start now.. or could it just be they are being teenagers. just about got my young lad used to them aswell dont want him getting a nip and getting worried about them.. any ideas Quote Link to post
longnetter 32
I think you've got it about right mate, they're just trying thier luck . Feckin' teenagers eh? Handle 'em after they've had a good meal, usually less likely to nip with a full belly but don't put 'em down if they do nip, that way they're training you ATB Quote Link to post
Hob&Jill 258
imo its nothing to do with age, mine learn not to nip just after there eyes open and they rarely nip ever again. Just handle then regulally and if they nip your finger, push it back into there mouth so they gag on it, its very effective and only needs to be one a couple of times from a young age Quote Link to post
muddy210 34
hob and jill they have not been biting for weeks now but just started this week i know that more handling will cure this but just wondered why it would happen after 5 weeks in my care with no biting that they would start to nip. its not a problem just getting opinions on what would cause this Quote Link to post

I've normally found that once they are good they stay that way, but ive only reared a few litters so i might well be wrong. atb, HJ Quote Link to post
