AzMaN 0
As i said in another post about dismantleing some made up rounds, i brought about 500 lead moulded bullets aswell, they are 140gr gass checked with 6 groves 4 of which contain some red stuff i can only assume is grease. when i pulled his loads he was using about 13gr of powder (indoor work posibly??) anyways i cant find any poper loading data on these. are they as usable at long ranges (600yards) should i still start with the min loads for the weight, or alot less? or are they totaly useless apart from short range? danebrewer10 6
I guess this is the 6.5x55? you can't push lead as fast as jacketed bullets, even with a gas check, else the lead is too soft and it won't grip the rifling, it just skims a layer of lead off the outside of the bullet and deposits it in the barrel, so they'll be going quite slow I'd have thought, there's no reason you can't use them at longer range, people shoot 45-120, 45-70 at long range, the trajectory is like a rainbow, but people do it, but for "proper"use I'd just load up some more "standard rounds... AzMaN 0
what about using them for say 100 - 200 yards? what kinda powder reduction should i be putting in to stop them desintigrating, we talking 20% less or more of a reduction?? Quote Link to post
SNAP SHOT 194
i'd personally bin them mate, As cleaning the barrel after shooting non jacketed bullets would be a pain in my opinion... Quote Link to post
