neil cooney 10,416
Some say it's bad luck. There used to be an old rhyme about a crowing hen, can anyone remember it???
DUCKWING 302
A WHISTLING WOMEN A CROWING HEN ......... NEITHER ARE FIT FOR GOD OR MEN A LOT [ BUT NOT ALL ] .......OF HENS WHICH START TO CROW ARE OLD HENS WHICH ARE GOING BARREN , THE HORMONE INBALANCE SETS THIS OFF .......HOWEVER , WHEN I USED TO KEEP POULTRY YRS AGO I HAVE SEEN MANY OF MY OLD SPURRED HENS FIGHTING FOR PECKING ORDER WITH ANOTHER ON THE YARD .... AND CROWING ...... WHEN THEY HAD SEEN OFF THE UPSTART ! YET STILL RAISE A HEALTHY BROOD THAT NEXT SEASON ....... SOME LINES ARE NOTED FOR CROWING HENS ..... I CAN THINK OF TWO THAT AROUND 1 IN 6 WOULD CROW ALL THE BEST DUCKWING
