rut 10
does any one rate the 1.7 centre fire or the 1.7 rim fire Quote Link to post
john robbo 30
.17 I think you mean matey. 1.7 would be a little overkill unless you were shooting light armoured cars. They are 2 very different rounds for 2 very different jobs. Both are good for the job they were designed to do. What are you wanting to do with either. Quote Link to post
willum 89
are you on about the auckly ? .17 using 223 shells necked for .17 or the hmr .17 Quote Link to post
njc110381 0
I guess the main question is what do you want to shoot and at what range? If it's Rabbits, Crows etc out to 150 yards then the HMR is brilliant. I've got a .17 Ackley Hornet. That's a 100% home load round, factory ammo doesn't exist as it's a custom round. That will kill Rabbits and fox out to 300 yards. As for the .17 Remington or .17 Mach IV I really don't see the point? Too much powder burnt for very little gain. Get a .22 centrefire IMO! jamie g 17
17 rem with 25 grain bullets can hit 4000 fps very fast flat. and safe as most of the time the bullets say inside the foxes. good if you shoot over rocky ground. and next to no recoil. if you wanted something with a little less speed and powder. then the 17 rem fireball could be worth a look also Quote Link to post
