Guest jt750 Posted July 22, 2010 Report Share Posted July 22, 2010 I was told tjhey are wider because as your dog works harder its windpipe expands so it can increase the air flow to the lungs to get them running at full capacity and if they pulled after working it could collapse their windpipe. Not sure if thats true or not but. Another thing..imagine the power your dog creates to run at speeds like it does and then think of the damage a slim collar can do to your dog when it yanks on its lead ..a broader leather collar will spread thhe stress over a larger area Quote Link to post Share on other sites
littlefish 598 Posted July 22, 2010 Report Share Posted July 22, 2010 I thought it was because greyhound and whippet types often have muscular necks and pointy narrow heads, making it less likely for the shaped collar to accidentally slip off over the dogs head?
