Now we've just had a big discussion about big dogs and what they are capable of and the man who is probably the world's leading expert on the deerhound - Kenneth Cassels has just published a new soft-back edition of his book - 'A Most Perfect Creature of Heaven - The Scottish Deerhound'. Mr Cassels set up the deerhound coursing club in the 1950's and his book contains descriptions of the use of deerhounds on hares, roe and red deer in the UK and on fox, pigs, roos and emu in Australia. I think that it's a wonderful read and should open an eye or two, it might even persuade one or two of you to stop telling me that things I have seen with my own eyes are impossible! Anyway, it will be of interest to anyone with a passion for longdogs and not just deerhound enthusiasts. If you want a copy you should move fairly quickly, because he has only printed 250 copies and probably wont print another edition. Cheers. N

Not many books on working deerhounds, most are about show dogs, or the history of the breed, so any are a welcome addition, and the author obviously has a hunting pedigree,

ive saw lots of deerhoud crosses over in the states who hunt deer coyote fox they have nose speed wind etc good dogs but they have the space over there all the best intresting book
