ireland and air rifles

looking to get an air rifle but hear i need a licence for 1... any way around this?? loop holes etc also a suggestion for a nice simple gun would be handy preferably bolt action.... is only to pop bunnies few rabbits here and there maybe the odd rat crow etc

You'll need a licence for any type of gun where you are, Hunter.

 

Not really a good idea to ask for loop holes on a public forum, mate, don't know who's watching....

 

Give us an idea as to how much you want to spend, then maybe someone can help.

am id only want to spend 100 max id rather something second hand as it would most likely be cheaper

 

ya was just wundering as with shotguns if you have a farm theres reason to own one.....

£100 wont get you much mate, you will be looking at a cheap break barrel for that sort of money.

In Eire, it's illegal to use airguns for hunting!

 

Air Rifles

Firearms certificates for air rifles are granted by the Superintendent of your local police district. These weapons are dangerous and can only be used for target practice purposes; they can never be used to shoot small animals, birds or protected species of wildlife. You will be required to complete an application form in the presence of the Garda on duty who will forward your application to the Superintendent and make recommendations on your application. The Superintendent will grant or refuse your application.
