markha 99
Hi there Markha Welcome to the forum, as said its a good place You were lucky to get the HW back from the guy at the shop. I believe they are supposed to confiscate them if over the limit You will bag up with the AA buddy no recoil = no worries How you filling her, pump? And dont forget to give her a name; just to wind Buster up  Enjoy your new girl Phantom Thanks for the welcome Phatom and others. Yes very lucky not to have the HW taken from me, he did say that if it had been 15ftlbs and over he would have taken it off me, which I think is fair enough. Well I went out to the farm yesterday and spent ages zeroing in, no problems at 30m but step it out to 40m and I realy had to make sure I had the scope centred on my eye or the POI kept changing. All sorted now though. Im really happy with the gun, but did notice that as the pressure dropped to around 150-140, according to the rifle gauge, I could visibly see the slugs lobbing on to the target! not happy about that as it suggest to me low power, or am I wrong and this is just one of the things with PCP guns? Pellets Im trying at the moment are AA Field 5.52 and I cant help feeling they are a bit heavy and very soft? But the gunsmith did mention that PCP like a heavier pellet, the HW80 was only using 15.1gr, these AA field are 16.1 I think? Rabbits were out but very very twitchy and we never got closer than 80m, and after sitting hidden for around 2hrs in a good down wind spot we gave up. Plenty of other days, plus I have a load of crows to clear in one of the crop fields, But I dont eat crows so thats just pest control! I have never named any of my rifles, spent a long while with armed forces and used many tools to get the job done, including accuracy international weapons and even then I didnt name her! I mean 'It'. Cheers M Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
Hey again I often see the pellet on its journey towards its mark. If the Sun is shining brightly and is behind you the skirt really reflects the light, so you see it. Wait while you start lamping and every one shows up like a little rocket streaking towards its target I also use AA fields 5.52 they are 15.9 Grains, another favourite are the FX 16 Grain jobs. Very similar tto the AAF's but very slightly more weight and bulk in the nose. Regarding the AA's being soft, yes, I've heard people complain that the skirts damage easily, but in my experiance when it comes to smashing bunny skulls they deffinately do the job I pulled a pellet out of a Doe last night, it was a .22 twin ringed job that was lodged inside the facia of the hind leg muscle of the rabbit It was quite deformed at one side and if I ever catch the tw@t that put it their I'll put one in the same place on his body! I know it wasnt mine, because mine went in one side of the skull and out the other, I don't use the flimsy lightweight pellets either. thats the second bunny I've found someone elses pellet inside. Bugger I digress Give the FX's a go see what you think of them Phantom Quote Link to post
