Alex Brown 7
Well after the last 3 outings with the rifle I have now got 1 full freezer, out this evening for a couple of hours at the back of a farm yard and managed this wee bag of ferret fodder. Just waiting in the jills giving birth now. Over the last 3 outings taken 42 bunnies, 14 woodies, a Rook and a Crow. Now to start with the second freezer so I can lay off shooting for a few weeks. matt_hooks 188
You're feeding good bunny and woody meat to ferrets? Are you mad? Nice shooting there mate, I had a great unexpected night last week, was staying at a campsite near where I was doing my DSC1 (now all passed just waiting for the certificate to drop through the door) and was chatting to a guy in the bar. Turns out he owned the campsite and had a big bunny problem. I happened to have my Theoben Scirocco in the boot, so offered to help him out. Several hours and much stalking around later, 20 bunnies on the deck. Four were bin fodder due to falling into the pond or onto a rubbish heap, 12 went into the pub freezer and 4 came home with me. That and a free burger and a pint, I was a happy camper and the landlord was well chuffed! Just a shame it's a fair distance away or I'd be there all the time! If anyone's near the "Halfway House Inn" at Chilthorne Domer, near Ilchester, if you knock on the door and ask for the landlord, he will likely let you have a go at the bunnies! It's only about 5 acres in total, but there are plenty of the little critters about! Edited May 24, 2010 by matt_hooks Quote Link to post
