Well when i was on my way to buy pellets today, i thought i would go for a quick drive around some local farms and see if there was any rabbits to be seen. Well i saw a few on one farm, so when i got home, i text my mate scott and asked if he wanted to go door knocking.

So off we went to the farm i seen. Knocked on the door and the farmers wife answered. I explained to her i had been ferreting and shooting locally and wondered if she needed someone to help get rid of the rabbits. She said she would need to talk to her husband but he wasnt in justnow so i left my details and im hoping for a phonecall. She then told me about a couple who stayed in a bungalow down the road who might be interested. We went to speak to them and they said that they do get rabbits but they come from a garden across the road and we would be best to ask them. So the guy took us over and we spoke to the guy from that house, who was fine with us shooting and ferreting in his garden. They have a very nice garden and they look like they like to look after it. He showed us round and there were a lot of burrows, and he also half owned a wooded area next to the garden, his neighbour owned the other half. While we were having a walk around, there neighbour came out and we asked if they would be okay with us shooting and ferreting in her garden also, and she was fine with that, and we also got permission to shoot in her half of the woods!

So off we set, couldnt believe how lucky we had been. Before we went home we decided to go and knock on another farmers door and we said the same to him. He said he doesnt have any rabbits on that farm but owns another farm not far away that had a rabbit problem, so he gave us permission to shoot over that farm, 500 acres :):)

So we have arranged to go there tomorrow morning for a wander about :) Still cant believe how lucky we were.

Cheers,

John

A mate phoned me one day last winter and told me he'd seen 19 rabbits sat next to an old railway embankment, he asked if I wanted to ferret it with him. When I asked if he'd got permission he said he hadn't asked, let's just go and do it he said.

Some weeks later when I was in the area I called into the farm and asked the farmers wife. No problem she said, just let us know when you're comming as we've had a few on without asking which have been chased.

So as you say, it's always worth asking.thumbs.gif
