Lee85 44
Just shot two mice in my garden with the air rifle that were stealing the birds bread. I've heard it's true as rats won't tollerate other rodents but it's just got me thinking. The mice have been checked in the larsen trap anyway!
adam scott 1
i think (dont hold me to this) that mice return to field's dure in summer. rats will stick around if there is food on a plate! i've had mice go through all my fishing tackle twice! butwhen i check the traps in spring they are always empty. i shot a rat out my garden two days ago! beast it was. it was also goin for the bread i put out for birds! where there is one there is always another! so got my eyes peeled now. Matt 160
Rats will predate mice which are living in close proximity to them; hence the old (wrong) saying. In reality, if you've got rats, you are less likely to have mice. The mice you see out in your garden are more likely to be the Woodmouse/Fieldmouse (Apedemus Spp) than a House Mouse which are associated with buildings.
