FAC rifle swap

Before i ask the boys in blue, can anyone here tell me if its possible to do a swap on my FAC and how awkward it is.

Im licensed for a 22lr and a .223 , both open. The 22lr for small vermin, .223 for fox.

Im not using my .223 as much as i thought i would, but am thinking that a .17hmr would give me longer range for the rabbits, as im shooting loads of rabbits, plus half the foxes ive shot have been with the 22lr anyway.

Can i request a swap ,223 for a .17? is it possible for them to do this?

Don't quote me on this because i'm fairly new to fac's , but as far as i know you can't just swap a firearm for another firearm .

 

If you dont want your .223 then you have to sell it and fill in the appropiate form.

And then send in another form and apply for the .17HMR , i believe it's called a variation , to be added to your ticket ,

as mjr 88 says, its a variation. a one for one change on you ticket is free of charge. you need to sell your 223 first ,and make sure your fao conditions the 17 for fox as you will have to put that down on the form. but if youve got fox on you 22lr then all should be fine

Just remember, if you sell rifle 1st, ask licencing authority to leave calibre open ,until you find a suitable rifle, or ask immediatley for 1-1 variation. If you sell 1 rifle there is no garantee ,the licence peoples keep calibre on you licence ,unless you say, they may remove, because rifle sold. Then it cost you £26 to replace variation !!
