lurchergrrl 1,441
“Probably 99.9 percent of the people that’s going to protest it never been, don’t have an idea of what a coyote is or what a greyhound is,†Hardzog said. “To me, they don’t even have a right to draw an opinion. They can pass all the laws they want to, but the good Lord is going to do all the judging.†+1 I was one of those city dwellers who viewed hunting as cruel and unneccessary. I honestly belived that tho I'd never ever had a taste of it myself - I just believed the hype. Then I moved here, got a lurcher as a pet, he caught a rabbit and my entire life changed. And it continues to do so with the experiences I have. That was a good read. But I don't think the journalist went out of his way to make Mr Hardzog sound good - in fact to me he seemed to struggle to be non judgemental. He spent more time talkig about the injuries the dogs sustain and less time about the importance of clearing the coyotes, or about how much the dogs LOVE it, despite the injuries. That article will stir trouble up for hunters. i thought he was trying to emphasise how much effort he put into looking after the dogs i.e. administering all the medication etc when they were injured. You may read it that way, but if you read it as, say, a city person who knows jack all about hunting or a brainless anti who refuses to see both sides of the coin, you'll see it differently. There is a lot of sensational language in that article, such as making reference to the dogs 'gnawing on stillborn calves' to clean their teeth. Why not just say they are feed on a healthy raw diet? Think about the language of it. The author makes a lot of mention about injuries etc., and while the tone of the article is impartial, the article itself isn't. It'll spark a lot of outrage from people who really haven't got a clue. Quote Link to post
Dan Edwards 1,134
Dan, your sport is safe as long as there is people like yourself and the "Ole Boy", same in Australia and New Zealand, there are people keeping it going, but they haven't been fooled by voting in a Labour/Socialist/Communist government !! We have been stuffed by politics !! I doubt if this country will ever get back to where it was, concerning hunting; I hope you guys don't fall into the same trap !! Cheers. Its already happening over here too but I and many others will not go away real quiet like. Dan I was working with some Texans this month in Azerbijian and was very surprised when they told me that hunting and tracking with dogs has been banned in there state ...whod of thought in a place like Texas that pig dogs would be banned so it just shows you it is not just our country that is being opressed . Another funny little story darts in the bars in Texas are made from velcro just incase anyone stabs someone ...but there all carrying guns They must not have been the Texans from over here cause nothin could be further from the truth. I'd say that if the US government ever tried to mess with Texas, they'd have their hands full. By the way, dad wants to know if you got the check yet biotch. LOL! Quote Link to post
