adam scott 1
hello. after successful shooting on winter rape, i have been turning my head towards pea's (drilling's). having only shot on them a couple of times when i was a lad, i do not have alot of confidence on them. my old man say's "u gotta be quick after the drilling"! the rape is to high for me now even tho i did go out last weekend and had a small bag. what can i shoot on now? grass is an option as i always see pigeon on it for the clover. i would love to get on the pea's tho and be confident. am i too late? is it useless setting up on a pea field if there are no surface pea's left? masmiffy 82
One of my permissions has just drilled the whole farm with peas! I thought 'great' He mangaed to get them in quite deep so nothing was left on the surface. Its been 2 weeks since he finished and yesterday there were lots about but not til after lunch. I had an hour and got 15 with a mate. Today its pissing down so no go! I recon once the shoots appear it will be good. In my opinion you can usually shoot peas from drill to combine and stubble oh and thankfully the guy who farms is also a shooter so there have been a few places where he broadcast an 'overcrop' to make sure the peas came good Quote Link to post

PETEWINN 5
Peas are some of the best shooting you can get. You will be able to shoot them for pigeons all the way through the summer from when the shoots first start to come through until about a week after they are harvested. Not everyone agrees with summer shooting but when it comes down to losing your permission if you don't turn out there isn't too much choice. The farmer will soon find someone else. Quote Link to post
