nercwys 10
Just wondering how some of you make your home made fox trapps. Would just like a few tips on different methods. Cheers. Edited April 16, 2010 by nercwys Quote Link to post
waidmann 105
i like the pipe traps for all predators. a 20-30 cm pipe(bigger if you like) as long as you can, with a bar/rat trap release/ its set up like a man made earth(straight,u,y shaped) the only difference is that its got doors which can either be left open and used as an earth or when "set" as a trap. they are good for the people with not so much time as they can be left open all week and set at the weekend, when set a relector behind the door allows the to be checked with a torch/lamp at night or a "pull out flag" for use in the daytime can be checked with binos from afar. i would check the functions at least once a week when set though. baited with dry dog food/corn they attract mice etc which in turn............. i find the foxes that check them in the summer months can be caught when the pelt is ready as with most things positioning is vital. these live catch traps are more readily accepted by rural foxes than cage types, are not at all intrusive in the enviroment, low maintainance and non target species can be released without harm. either push the fox out by means of a rod with a bucket on the end and into a small cage for transport/dispatch or use a dog(i prefer the first to avoid dog smell in the trap).shooting IN the trap can cause long periods of "drought" on the catching front waidmann Quote Link to post
