FightTheBan 1,147
We had a call out on Saturday for a Vixen and cubs, tried all earths in the area untill we got a posotive in an old kicked out rabbit burrow(tight as a ducks arse). The long and short of it is we totally underestimated the earth and the dog went in at 7 and didnt get doen to it untill 10.30/11 (finished the dig with headlights). The dog in question is not a particularly hard dog and usually bolts her quarry, this fox had wrapped itself amongst tree roots and would not budge. Whats the latest you have finished a dig? FightTheBan 1,147
thats only 3hrs mate.why edit your post to the longest time spent digging to a terrier mate Because thats not the question bud. Im wanting to find out the latest time at night (once dark) people have finished digging. The game is completely different once it gets dark (you dont know if it has bolted, you forget where you put gear etc etc). I realise 3 hours is not a long time, i have dug far longer in the past than that, the earth was underestimated and looked like a kick of the turf. FTB Quote Link to post
dogs-n-natives 1,182
My old dog Scrumpy did 3 days in an old quarry. But the worst dig for the same terrier was a dawn till dusk one on the hill, in the rain, ive never seen a terrier so weak when lifted, as well as me and bftb's(cuz)the ground was super hard going. Bloody hard work, and a nightmare at the time, but one that will not be forgotten. Quote Link to post

FTB i used to dig at night all the time, as I was busy with other jobs through the day. lost a fair bit of gear... had the torches die, but a good lurcher will help. I dont mind it, if the torches last Quote Link to post

FightTheBan 1,147
come on lads, this topics a bit of a no,no?weather it be 3 hrs or 3 days or two wks, does it really matter how long, Would you care to elaborate?. Its not a question of my dogs harder than yours, ive dug deeper than you bullshit. If you do alot of terrier work you would realise that its not always clear cut, not always straightforward and mistakes can easily be made. The post asks what is the latest time of night you have finished a dig (whether that is intentional, unintentional or a rescue situation). Cheers for your input but i dont get what your angle is.
