How Slow Can You Go?

Recommended Posts

This may be an odd question but one of the clubs I'm thinking of joining has what seems to me quite stringent restrictions on what can be fired at the range.

Max caliber = 0.455

Max velocity = 2000 ft/sec

max energy = 1496 ft/lb

Is the max velocity / energy going to seriously limit caliber or can ammunition be bought to comply for any given caliber?

Yes you are right, I haven't got a clue! :icon_redface:

Cheers,

Mick.

Most calibre can be run slower with lighter head shape & less charge. Alway look in recommed book, too low is as dangerous ,as also too high loads !! For egample 22 centre fire with 7gr of charge, is possible , also 762 with 11gr is also possible on indoor range. You must refer to download data. I use 311 calibre from 70gr to 210gr 50 yard to 600metre target, using diffrent burn powder.

Start low, & get data here.

I am member of a rifle club, it is outdoor 100yrd max and

same strictions apply for my club. High velocity rounds

not permitted. Can only use high velocity rounds in my case MOD range at Bisley.

You might find similar rules apply most clubs.

Thanks Gents,

Forgive me if I'm being dumb but I'm still not sure of the answer, can low velocity rounds be purchased for all calibres?

Most factory ammo from shop not suitable, you must reload you own ammo. regards

Bugger!

Certainly no where near doing that kind of thing.

it no difficult, anyone can do.Set up is important & time to reload. Chat to friend at club, he may have reload set up & show you how to use.
