picking up mank

My two springers and how my pointer x lab have a habbit of picking up every manky bit of rotten fur or feather. do i take them from them and praise them which i have been doing but im getting sick of it. what should i do?

 

oh and while im here my my pointer x hads all bald patches up the inside of her back legs. i got this shampoo for rashes of a friend and have been using that still to early to tell. anyone had this problem themselfs?

Depends on their age really

 

If their very young I'd just gently take it from them and say nothing.

 

If they are older & experienced I'd tell them to "leave it" before they picked it up.

could be a lot of differtent things mate hard to see without seeing the dog, lab cross what king of pointer, do you have any pics of dog, will try to help.
